Bertha W. Davis, 92, of Topeka, went to be with her Lord on Friday, April 14, 2017 at a Topeka hospital. She was born September 5, 1924 in Noble Lake, Arkansas, the daughter of John and Susie B. (Yarbrough) Steward.
Bertha was employed by Topeka Country Club and USD 501 as a Teacher's Aide. She was Mother of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church for many years.
Bertha married Percyell Davis in 1954 at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Noble Lake, Arkansas. He preceded her in death in 1974. She was also preceded in death by her son, Mason Pleasant and her daughter, Verdia Thomas.
Survivors include her children, Theodis Hampton of Kansas City, Kansas, Robert Hampton, Jr. of Topeka, Victoria McKinney of Lawrence, Kansas, Percy Davis of Phoenix, Arizona, Essell W. Davis of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Fern Davis of Topeka, Kaprus Davis of Topeka, Christopher Davis of Topeka, Alvon Davis of Topeka, Harvey Davis of Topeka, many grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, many great-great-grandchildren, her siblings, John Steward of Fordyce, Arkansas and Osarine Roby of Pine Bluff, Arkansas and a host of extended family and friends.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow in Mount Auburn Cemetery.
