Bessie Madelyn Hunt, 92, passed away Friday, December 16, 2005 in Topeka. She was born at Admire KS on February 22, 1913, the daughter of Alfred O. and Elma Putnam Widau. She graduated from Admire High School in 1931, and has lived in the Topeka and Berryton areas since that time. She was married to Roderick M. Hunt on December 24, 1933 in Topeka. He died May 8, 1969.
Mrs Hunt worked in the State Treasurer office from 1969-1979. She was a member of the Highland Park United Methodist Church, a 50 year member of the Eagles Lodge ,the Royal Neighbors of America and the Rebekah Lodge.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Shirley. Survivors include three sons; Rod Jr., Timothy R., and Gene Hunt. Mrs. Hunt is also survived by six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and seven great-great- grandchildren.
Mrs Hunt will lie in state after Noon on Monday, December 19, at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel where family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 that evening. Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, December 20 at the funeral home with burial to follow at Westlawn Memorial Gardens in Topeka.
