Bessie "Marie"Brown Wrenick

Bessie Marie Brown Wrenick passed away April 30, 2014, in Topeka, Kansas at the age of 100 years old. She was born March 29, 1914 in Redfield, Bourbon County, Kansas. Marie was the daughter of Ernest and Viola Pearl (Brooks) Brown who preceded her in death.

Marie attended schools in Redfield and Fort Scott, Kansas along with Pittsburg State College, Kansas. She taught school in Devon, Kansas.

She married Rudy E. Wrenick on June 21, 1936 in Arma, Kansas. They celebrated 62 years of marriage before his death on March 27, 1998.

They had four children, Joyce (Ron) Leidig, Richardson, Texas; Dale (Judith) Wrenick, Woodinville, Washington; Rudy (Cathy) Wrenick, Topeka, Kansas and Kathy Carver, Overland Park, Kansas. Dale Wrenick passed away January 8, 2006.
Marie enjoyed her 9 grandchildren; Susan (John) Graf, Garland, Texas; Michele (Jim) Wegmann, Allen, Texas; Amy (Matt) Smith, Brentwood, Tennessee; Barry Wrenick, Seattle, Washington; Sally (Marc) Hallen, Kenmore, Washington; Scott (Kerry) Wrenick, Merriam Kansas; Mark (Joy) Leidig , Houston, Texas; Travis (Jenna) Carver, Santa Fe, New Mexico; and Bradley (Ashley) Carver, Overland Park, Kansas.

She was also blessed with 12 great grandchildren; Alex, Zach, Holly, and Ryan Smith; Heather and Brandon Wegmann; Dasha Carver; Brady Hallen; Trestle and Tobin Wrenick; Christopher Leidig; and Lucena Marie Carver.
All the family gathered in Topeka, Kansas, on March 29, 2014, to celebrate her 100th birthday.

During the years of raising four children and in later years, she gratefully accepted each day, living each day one day at a time.
She was a member of Topeka Country Club and enjoyed golf and bridge. She was a long time member of First United Methodist Church and a member of the YOMAC class.

The funeral service will be held Friday, May 2nd at the Mount Hope Chapel at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday before the service. Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
