Betty Ann Litchfield, 87, formerly of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at a care facility in San Dimas, CA. She was born on April 19, 1921 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Charles E. and Adelia E. Kohl Slatten. She had resided in Topeka most her life before moving to San Dimas in 2003. Betty graduated from Topeka High School. She was employed as a Social Worker for the State of Kansas for 53 years before retiring. She was a member of the American Kennel Club and a quilt guild. Betty married Leroy F. Litchfield on September 3, 1943 in Kansas City, KS. He preceded her in death on March 24, 1978. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Susan A. Barber and one great-granddaughter, Cara Overton. Survivors include one son, Bruce L. Litchfield of San Dimas, CA, three grandchildren, Bruce J. Litchfield, Shay Castilla, Ryan Millett, five great-grandchildren, Suvanna Castilla, Elijah Castilla, Zacheriah Castilla, Sophia Castilla, Chloe Millett, and three brothers, Fred Slatten of West Hollywood, CA, Charles Kohl of Liberty TX and Fred Wentworth of Kansas City, KS. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Burial will follow. Betty will not lie in state.
