Betty Louise Craig

Betty Louise Craig, 95, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Brewster Place in Topeka. She was born December 12, 1925 in Oberlin, Kansas, the daughter of Edward Verne and Mable (Phillips) Eye.

Betty and her family moved in 1926 to rural Franklin County, Kansas near Wellsville and graduated from Wellsville High School in 1943 and attended Baker University. She was a school teacher for three years in a one room schoolhouse. Betty later went to work for Washburn University as Head Cashier for 37 years before retiring. She was a member of the Highland Heights Christian Church, a past member of Central Park Christian Church where she served as a Deaconess and Elder, served as a Den Mother for Boy Scouts of America for three years and Leader for the Camp Fire Girls for ten years.

Betty married William "Bill" Leon Craig on May 6, 1944 at her great-aunt's home in San Bernardino, California. He preceded her in death on August 16, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, James Craig, her son-in-law, Joseph McCullough and brother-in-law, George Miller.

Survivors include her son, Dr. William E. (Jean) Craig of San Antonio, Texas, her daughter, Deborah McCullough of Parker, Colorado, two grandchildren; Dr. Ann (Dr. Doug) Befroy of Austin, Texas and Andrew Craig of Washington DC, and three great-grandchildren, Matthew, Timothy and Eleanor, her sister-in-law, Colette Miller and her children, Rhonda and Diane.

Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, November 26, 2021 at the Highland Heights Christian Church. Graveside committal services will follow at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Wellsville Cemetery, Wellsville, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Highland Heights Christian Church, 2930 SE Tecumseh Rd., Tecumseh, Kansas 66542 or to the Brewster Foundation, 1205 SW 29th St., Topeka, Kansas 66611.

Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. is assisting the family with arrangements.
