Betty J. Willis
Betty J. Willis, 72, Topeka, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007 at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center.
She was born Nov. 21, 1934 in Moberly, MO, the daughter of Geno and Vivian Clark Daiprai. She was raised in Wyoming, and had lived in Topeka since 1969.
Mrs. Willis operated Betty's Day Care from 1987 to 1997. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
She married William H. Willis on Nov. 28, 1950 in Rock Springs, WY. He survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Becci Nelson of Rossville and Barbara Willis of Lawrence; a son, Bill Willis, Jr. and his wife, Brenda, of Lecompton; a brother, Larry Daiprai of Topeka; four grandchildren, Gina Penzig of Topeka, Jason Nelson of Topeka, Bonnie Jones of Lawrence, and John Willis of Lecompton; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Daiprai.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Newcomer Family Funeral Home. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Mrs. Willis will lie in state after noon Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m.
