Betty Jeankrehbiel Martin

Betty Jean (Krehbiel) Martin, of Topeka, died Saturday, September 13, 2003 at St. Francis Hospital. She was 59.
Mrs. Martin was born in Kingman, Kansas on July 30, 1944 to Elmer and Hilda Voran Krehbiel. She graduated from Kingman High School in 1962. She attended Bethel College in Newton, Kansas where she graduated in 1967. She served for over 30 years as a registered nurse, working at Stormont-Vail Hospital in the cancer unit as well as the St. Francis Hospital Cancer Unit. She also helped with the research of Breast Cancer at the KU Medical Center. Mrs. Martin was a member of Southern Hills Mennonite Church.
Mrs. Martin married Wayne A. Martin, July 20, 1969 in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include:
Her Mother: Hilda Krehbiel of Kingman, Kansas
Son: Brad Martin and his wife Suzanne of Louisville, Kentucky
Son: Gregory W. Martin of Topeka, Kansas
One Granddaughter: Lillie Martin of Louisville, Kentucky
Three Sisters: Bertha Wedel of Buhler, Kansas
Dorothy Dick of Buhler, Kansas
Katherine Knak of Wichita, Kansas
Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by:
Her Father: Elmer Krehbiel in February of 1996 and
Her Sister: Margie Yutzy in July of 2002.
Services will take place at the Southern Hills Mennonite Church on Wednesday, September 17th at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
Mrs. Martin will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Highland Chapel, where relatives will greet friends and family from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be given to American Cancer Society, 1315 S.W. Arrowhead, Topeka, Kansas 66604.
