Betty Jean Kaufman, 87, of Topeka, passed away Friday, February 1, 2013.
She was born May 9, 1925, in Topeka, the daughter of Charles "Bert" and Margaret Edna and (Luttjohann) Peckham. She was a 1943 graduate of Topeka High School.
After graduation, she was employed for a short time by Southwestern Bell Telephone, and then for Seymour Foods, retiring in 1987.
She attended Fellowship Bible Church and was a member of the Beulah Chapter of O.E.S, Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Posts 1300 and 1650 and American Legion Post 400, all of Topeka.
Betty married Robert M. Kaufman on June 26, 1949 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on June 20, 2010. Survivors include a son, Randy; daughter-in-law: Elmarie; 3 grandsons; James, Andrew and Daniel; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at the Dove Cremation & Funeral Service, 4020 SW 6th Ave, Topeka. Interment will follow at Rochester Cemetery, Topeka. Betty will lie in state after 3 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Hospice, 3715 SW 29th, Ste 100, Topeka, KS 66614.
