Betty Lou Kennedy

Betty Lou Kennedy, 89, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2023.

She was born January 11, 1933, in Welch, Oklahoma, the daughter of Richard and Lillie (Elam) Parks. She graduated from San Bernardino High School in 1950.

Betty was employed by Southwestern Bell for 20 years, retiring on April 8, 1988.

Mrs. Kennedy was a member of the Pioneers volunteer network, serving as secretary for several years.

Betty married Raymond Leon Kennedy on August 11, 1949 in Las Vegas, NV. He preceded her in death on October 15, 2001. Survivors include her children, Richard Kennedy of Meriden, Randy Kennedy of Topeka, and Karen Sandmeyer of Topeka; grandchildren Tom Kennedy (Ivony), Brenda Kennedy, Mike Kennedy, Sonny Sandmeyer (Tracey), and Abby Whitmer (Josh); and eight great-grandchildren.

Betty enjoyed traveling with her husband around the United States and spending time with her family.

There will be a graveside service at Memorial Park Cemetery in Topeka at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2023. The family will receive friends at Dove Cremations and Funerals Southwest Chapel from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pioneers Member Services Center, P.O. Box 758515, Topeka, KS 66675-8515.
