Betty Lee Clark, 88, of Manhattan, KS, died Saturday, February 2, 2013 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was born October 22, 1924 at Marysville, KS the daughter of Henry and Alice (Vanamburg) Schell.
Betty was raised in Marysville, and graduated from Marysville High School in 1941. She married E. Jean Clark on June 12, 1943 at St. Mary's Cathedral in Wichita, KS. Betty was a homemaker while raising her family. Later in life, she became a house mother for the Phi Delta Theta fraternity at Kansas State University. Betty was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and she was a painter of Artistic China.
Betty is survived by her son, Richard "Dick" Clark (Denise), of Manhattan; daughters, Karen Smith (Jim) of Giltner, NE, Lana Urban (Carl) Hilo, HI; 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; sister, Mildred Burger; and sister-in-law, Vida Mae Schell.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son, Brian Clark; brothers, John S. Schell, Lorane Schell, and sister, Neva Hall.
Graveside inurnment services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, February 15th at Sunrise Cemetery followed by a Celebration of Life memorial dinner from 5:00-8:00 p.m., at the Union Pacific Depot, 120 Ft. Riley Blvd. Manhattan, KS. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to the Betty Clark Memorial Fund, c/o UMB Bank, 529 Humboldt, Manhattan, KS.
