Betty Lou Stapleton

Betty Lou Stapleton passed away October 5, 2012. She was born at Morrill, KS to Charles and Edna (Buker) McKinnie, on March 22, 1930. She graduated from Morrill High School in 1947, and was married to Wilbur Stapleton in 1950. He and their 11 month old daughter, Susan Irene, preceded her in death. Survivors include their 2 sons, Michael and Patrick Stapleton; daughter, Kathy Thomas, and three granddaughters.

Betty worked as a school secretary. She later earned her Bachelor's Degree from Washburn University, and a Master's Degree in Special Education from Kansas State University. Betty taught for 8 years in USD #501. She served 8 years on the #501 School Board following her teaching experience. She was an artist and a crafter who loved children with special needs.

Per her wishes, Betty was cremated. A memorial service in consideration of her many friends will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 13th at the Rochester Community Church of the Brethern, 3201 NW Rochester Rd. Topeka, KS.
