Betty Marie Succi, 88, of Tecumseh, passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. She was born on January 25, 1922 on a farm in Tecumseh, the daughter of Henry and Letha Wagstaff Flohrschutz. Betty graduated from Berryton High School and attended Stricklers Business College. She was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad for many years before retiring on January 1, 1982. She attended Shawnee Heights United Methodist Church and was a member of the Santa Fe Old Timers Club, the Harmony Club, the NARV and the Retired Veteran Employees Group.
Betty married Alfred G. Succi on March 18, 1950 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on December 17, 2005. Survivors include seven nieces, two nephews and several cousins.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Burial will follow at Burlingame Cemetery. Betty will lie in state from 1:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Shawnee Heights United Methodist Church, 6020 S.E. 44th St., Tecumseh, Kansas 66542 or to the Burlingame Federated Church, 322 S. Topeka Ave., Burlingame, Kansas 66413.
