Betty Reed

Betty A Reed, 78, Topeka, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2009, at Rolling Hills Health Center. She was born March 17, 1931, at Ottumwa, KS to Raymond and Lottie Anderson. Betty was united in marriage to Don Reed on June 17, 1950. He preceded her in death on January 3, 2003.

Betty grew up in Burlington, KS and graduated from Burlington High School. She lived in Texas before moving to Topeka in 1966. Betty worked at Fleming Foods for seventeen years until Flemings moved to Oklahoma. She worked as a bookkeeper until her retirement in 1996.

Betty is survived by four children; Sherlyn (Jim) Starkey, Rick (Janie) Reed, Debbie Tiller all of Topeka, and Jeffery Shane (Debbie) Reed of Carbondale, KS. Betty has ten grandchildren; Shannon Miller; Tara, Trevor, Tanner, and Timily Starkey; Kali, Lacey, and Brian Tiller; Kaitlyn, Blake, and Logan Reed. She also has two step-grandchildren; Rachel McDaniel and Danae Mitchell; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at Dove Funeral Home, 4020 SW Sixth Ave. Topeka, KS 66606. Interment will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery & Mausoleum, 3616 SW Sixth Ave. Topeka, KS 66606. Betty will lie in-state from 12:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday April 13, 2009. A visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 that evening.
