Beulah Gene (Hudson) (Heck) Tate

December 27, 1944 — December 21, 2019

Beulah Gene (Hudson) (Heck) Tate, 74, of Perry, Kansas passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. She was born on December 27, 1944 to Dorothy Ann (Newell) and Thomas Phillip Hudson in San Diego, CA. When she was 6 years old she skipped school to play on the beach all day with her 5 year old sister...and the shenanigans just kept coming from there.

Beulah was 'Boo' to her family and friends. She didn't much care for school but she spent her adult life learning about things that mattered to her. She helped build the house she spent most of her life in; she had a Christmas tree farm; made the best salsa ever; and cooked like no other. Her sunflower seed bread baked in coffee cans was legendary. She taught son Roger Alan and daughter, Lorri Lynn that if you wanted to eat, you'd better learn to cook...and you damned well better clean up after yourself.

Boo loved an adventure-road trips were her favorite times. Her grandkids knew that if a Grandma Boo's toothbrush wasn't in her bathroom, she'd probably be gone for a while.

The sky was the color of Boo's beautiful blue eyes the day she left us to go on to her next journey.

Boo had four sisters, Alice, Anna, Patricia and Elizabeth, three brothers, Carlton, Thomas and Daniel, 5 nephews, 2 nieces and more great nephews & nieces than she could count, but she loved every one of them. Her children Roger Heck (Chris) and Lorri Caldwell (Todd) gave her several favorite grandchildren: Tyson (Nicole) Heck, Jessica (David) Miner, Audri (Levy) Cantrell, Tyler (Danielle) Caldwell, and Briana Heck (Grat). She was also blessed with great grandchildren Daylon, Lilyann, Colyn, Allison, Levy, Braxton, Tucker, Hudson and Liam.

Boo wanted to be cremated, so we'll celebrate her life privately and often. When you remember Boo, do it with a smile; and know that if you raise a glass in her honor, she'd chime in "I'll drink to that!"

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, Kansas 66606.
