Beverly A. Hadden, 84, of Topeka, passed away Monday, September 21, 2020.
She was born July 8, 1936, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Raymond L. and Vera M. (Cook) Barkley. She was a 1954 graduate of Highland Park High School, attended Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina and received a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Washburn University in Topeka.
Bev was employed by the Department of Health and Environment for the State of Kansas for 20 years, retiring on September 5, 1998.
She was a member of Covenant Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School Teacher and member of the Christian Women's Club. She was also a member of the Kansas Society of Mayflower Descendants and Topeka Genealogical Society. Bev and her husband volunteered for the Topeka Rescue Mission.
Bev married Kyle A. Hadden on May 16, 1958 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on November 14, 2014. Survivors include three children, Sheryl (Marty) Juergensen of Mechanicsville, VA, Shannon (Michelle) Hadden of Topeka and Shauna Hadden of Topeka; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and her brother, Paul Barkley of Topeka.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Michael Hadden; and two brothers, Ronald and David Barkley.
Bev enjoyed crocheting, genealogy, reading, sewing, bird watching, traveling and going to church. She was also an avid KU Jayhawk fan.
Honoring her request, cremation is planned. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road, Topeka.
A graveside ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 25, 2020 at Mount Hope Cemetery, 4700 SW 17th Street, Topeka.
