Beverly Kay Nicholson, 85, of Wakarusa, passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022 at a Topeka hospital ER. She was born December 15, 1936 in Stull, Kansas, the daughter of Roy S. and Daisy B. (Scheer) Bowen.
Beverly graduated from Berryton High School and Clarks School of Business. She was employed as a secretary and later as a civilian personnel specialist for the USAF and the Air National Guard at Forbes Field, retiring in April 1993 after 33 years of service. She worked part time in the purchasing department at Frito-Lay from October 1993 until March 2006 and for the Shawnee County Conservation District. She was a member of the Terra Heights Baptist Church and later the Wakarusa Presbyterian Church.
Beverly married William E. Nicholson in Stull on February 10, 1957. He preceded her in death on November 2, 1996. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Derek B. Nicholson and David A. Nicholson.
Beverly later met Leland Salts with whom she enjoyed spending over 21 years of companionship, travel and adventure. He survives. Other survivors include one son, Doug (Renee) Nicholson of Columbia City, Indiana, six grandchildren, April Nicholson, Stephanie (Aaron) Ziadeh, Matthew (Kori) Nicholson, Brandon Nicholson, Courteney (Kyle) Fezi, Derek Nicholson, three great-grandchildren, Layla Jepson, Leighton Fezi, Gavin Fezi and her brother, Bobby (Barbara) Bowen of Berryton.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 4, 2022 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow in Stull Cemetery southeast of Topeka.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Wakarusa Presbyterian Church, 10135 SW Jordan Rd., Wakarusa, Kansas 66546.
