Bill Mosley

Bill "Coach" Mosley, 76, of Topeka, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday May 31, 2007.

Bill was born June 16, 1930 in Pitcher, OK the son of William and Ruby Mosley. He attended schools in Commerce, OK and graduated from Commerce High School. Bill served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He received his Bachelors Degree in Education from Pittsburg State University in 1956 and later earned his Masters Degree from Washburn University.

Bill began his coaching career in 1957 in Ft. Scott, KS and was there until 1965. He came to Topeka in 1966 and coached and taught at Seaman High School until 1990.

He was a member of Post #400 American Legion, Philip Billard Post #1650 V.F.W. Lodge #555 Loyal Order of the Moose. Bill was an avid golfer and was a member of Lake Shawnee Golf Course. He was a member of Northland Christian Church and also attended Christ the King Catholic Church.

He married Neva Le Speaker. She preceded him in death. He later married Lee Cox of Lawrence, KS. She survives. Other survivors include his children, Kurt Mosley and his wife Patti, Alexander, AR; Kristi Mosley Reeb and her husband Bart, Topeka; Kelly Mosley Moomau, Ozawkie, KS; three step children, Barbara Cox O'Meara and her husband George, Dwight Cox, all of California; Laura Cox, Lawrence, KS, four grandsons; six step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two sisters.

Mr. Mosley will lie in state after 1:00 p.m. Sunday at the Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 S.W. Wanamaker, where the family will greet friends from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Association for research.
