Billy Gene Williamson, 82, Topeka, passed away on Monday, September 8, 2014 at the home. He was born September 23, 1931 in Jonesboro, Arkansas the son of George and Bertha (Prince) Williamson. He graduated from the Kansas School of Barbering in 1957.
Billy was a barber and proudly owned and operated Fairlawn Plaza Style Center in Fairlawn Plaza Shopping Center for 51 years, retiring from barbering after 56 years. His shop is still operating. He was a member of Wanamaker Woods Nazarene Church. He loved horseback riding and was a member of Brush Buster's Riding Club. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and gardening.
Billy married Doretha Mae Briggs on December 25, 1954 in Topeka. Survivors include daughters, Denise Goodlove, Dellene Williamson and DeJuana Williamson, all of Topeka; son, Bruce (Keirston) Williamson also of Topeka; grandchildren, Nicole (Mike) McLaughlin, Lauren Goodlove, Bradley (McKenzie) Williamson, Wendy (Tom) Bruce, Ellerie Williamson, Ashley (Andrew) Luttjohann, Zac Dexter, Jared (Ashley) Dexter; 13 great-grandchildren and one brother. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene, 3501 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka, KS 66614. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene or to the charity of the donor's choice. Private inurnment will be at a later date.
