Billy Dale “Bill” Heath, 86, of Topeka passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. He was born December 20, 1938, in Humansville, Missouri, the son of Lester and Hazel (Hamlin) Heath. After leaving the family farm, Bill enjoyed the bachelor’s life working at Boeing in Wichita, Kansas. On September 9, 1960, he married the love of his life, Rose Ann O’Connor of Stockton, Missouri. The two spent the next 65 years of marriage growing their family and businesses. Bill spent much of his career self-employed running a Tom’s Peanut sales route alongside Rose Ann. Later he opened Bill’s Service Center in Oakland from which he retired as owner and operator. He filled some of his retirement time by driving all over the U.S. for various car lots in Topeka. Bill enjoyed fishing, gardening, and just puttering around.
Bill is survived by his loving wife and care giver Rose Ann, two daughters, Teresa (John) Warner and Lisa (Gene) Burgoon both of Topeka. Four grandchildren, JT Warner, Ben (Staci) Warner, Carrie (Lane) Deghand all of Topeka, Kyle (Courtney) Burgoon of Ellis, Kansas, four great-grandchildren Ethan, Gavin, Logan, and Sadie, and three puppies, Molly, Jack and Jill. Bill is also survived by his sister, Jimmie Kay (Steve) Rone of Stockton, Missouri and several nieces and nephews.
As per Bill’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private inurnment will take place at a later date at the Omer Cemetery, Stockton, Missouri. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. in Topeka.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Helping Hands Humane Society, 5720 S.W. 21st, Topeka, Kansas 66604.
