Billy Max Hill, 85, of Berryton, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2011 peacefully at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born September 29, 1926 in Richland, KS, the son of George and Elizabeth (Reed) Hill.
Mr. Hill was a farmer and was retired from the Iron Workers, Local #10, Kansas City.
Billy married Crystal L. Christenberry on March 20, 1949 in Richland, KS.
He was a member of the Berryton United Methodist Church, and a 51 year member of the Albert Neese Masonic Lodge #248 A.F. &A.M., where he was served as Master in 1967, 1969 and 1970 and held numerous other offices in the lodge. He and Crystal were charter members of Wagonears Camping Club and members of the NCHA where they were Kansas King and Queen in 1996 and International King and Queen in 1997. He was also Jam Master of the All State Band in Texas.
Survivors include his wife, Crystal of Berryton; two daughters, Trena Hill, Overland Park, KS and Billie (Fred) Segrist, Berryton; 4 grandchildren, Amanda Fox, Joel (Emily) Payne, Wyatt (Tina) Segrist and Sarah Shute; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Nellie Angle, Topeka.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Joseph and Ray Hill and two sisters, Georgia O'Dell and Vera Lee Hill.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, October 28, 2011 at the Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota, Topeka. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Richland, KS. Mr. Hill will lie in state after 3 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Berryton United Methodist Church, 7010 SE Berryton Rd, Berryton, KS 66409 or Grace Hospice, 3715 SW 29th St # 100, Topeka, KS 66614-2111.
