Billy Merle "Bill" Fish, 81, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Midland Hospice House.
He was born June 25, 1932 in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Merle and Bessie (Vogel) Fish. He was graduated from Wichita North High School and earned an engineering degree from Wichita State University.
Billy was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, retiring after 40 years. Before his death, he worked as a building inspector for Community Action, Inc.
Billy married Barbara Jones on April 22, 1978 in Wichita. She survives of the home. Other survivors include a sister, Betty (Jack) Taylor, Augusta, KS; a sister-in-law, Marcelle Micnhimer, Gillespie, IL; two sons, Dana (Kathy) Fish and Billy Fish Jr., both of Wichita; a daughter, Julie (Mark) Croft, Grapevine, TX; a step-daughter, Vicki (Randall) Bailey, Topeka; granddaughters, Maria, Jenny, Gina and Melissa; a step-granddaughter, Sarah; grandsons, Billy, Zachary, Anthony, and Paul; a step-grandson, Jacob; and many great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Earl Micnhimer and one infant great-grandson.
A celebration of homecoming will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, February 21, 2014 at the Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka. Burial will follow in Prairie Home Cemetery, Topeka. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Billy will lie in state at the funeral home from 3-8 p.m., Thursday.
