Blaine A. Moss, 77, of Berryton, passed away Saturday, Dec. 17 at a Topeka hospital.
He was born August 22, 1928 in Barnard, KS, the son of Otis and Nellie Moss.
He was a 1946 graduate of Beloit High School and attended Fort Hays College where he played football for one year. He began work in March of 1947 for Southwestern Bell Telephone as a lineman/ switchman for 37 years, retiring from AT&T in 1988. He was an accomplished roofer and handyman. He was a member of the Berryton Kiwanis Club for over 25 years and the Berryton United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir for over 25 years. He was a scoutmaster for several years and was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers. He was a foster parent for Kansas Children's Service League for many years.
He married Lois G. Brown on April 9, 1950 in Beloit, KS. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Pamela Crandall and her husband Al, Palm Harbor, FL.; son, Dirk Moss and his wife Deb, Haven, KS; daughter Melanie Moss, Topeka; son Roger Moss and his wife Kayla, Berryton; grandchildren Sarah and Alison Crandall, Brandon Warner, and Tanner and Jake Moss.
Blaine will lie in state after 1:00 pm, Tuesday, Dec. 20 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm that evening. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, Dec. 21 at the Berryton United Methodist Church, with private family burial to follow.
