Blanch B. Rust

Blanch Bernice Rust, 93, of Topeka, passed away, Monday, September 3, 2007 at Plaza West Care Center.

She was born December 16, 1913 in Harlan County, NE the daughter of Alfred and Rhoda Bush. She attended schools in Republican City, and Franklin, NE graduating in 1931.

Mrs. Rust taught school in Districts #52 and #61 in rural Franklin County, NE. She was united in marriage to Guy Rust on May 20, 1934 in a double wedding ceremony. They lived on a farm in Smith County, KS and later moved to Junction City, KS. In 1993 they moved to Topeka.

They attended Naponee Wesleyan Church, Junction City Nazarene Church and Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene. In her earlier years she loved teaching children's Sunday School classes, playing the piano, guitar and violin. In later years she spent her time writing many letters of encouragement to all who knew her.

Mrs. Rust was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Rust and her son Tony Rust. Survivors include, her sons Cliff Rust and his wife Jerilynn, Topeka; Ted Rust and his wife Jan, Poteau, OK; her daughter in law, Marilyn Rust, Phoenix, AZ; her brother, Oscar Bush, DeLand, FL; 11 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.

She will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m., Saturday, September 8, 2007 at the funeral home where the family will greet friends one hour prior to services.
