Bonnie Jean Ebert

Bonnie Jean (Crook) Ebert, 92, a longtime resident of Topeka, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 9, 2021.

She was born May 14, 1929, in Leavenworth, Kansas, the daughter of Ira and Sarah Crook.

She married Earl Alan Ebert on November 6, 1953 in Lansing, Kansas. They shared over 66 years of marriage together. He preceded her in death on July 29, 2020.

In 1953 the couple moved to Topeka. She was a homemaker while their three children were small then worked for USD 347 at Northern Hills Jr. High and at Seaman High School. In 1973 Bonnie and Earl became co-owners of Gaslight Garage where Bonnie ran the office and was bookkeeper until the business closed in 1986. Bonnie worked at Roach Hardware in North Topeka for a short time.

After Earl's retirement they moved to Belen, NM then returned to Topeka in December of 2018.

She and Earl were active members of the Christian Motorcycle Club of Topeka and Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) where she was editor of the newsletter.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings.

She is survived by a brother, Ed (Pat) Crook of Leavenworth; three children, Valerie (Wayne) Rees of Auburn, Gary (Priscella) Ebert of Cocolalla, ID and Michael E. (Debra) Ebert of Lake Havasu City, AZ; seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Inurnment of Bonnie's cremated remains will take place at Auburn Cemetery.

Dove Cremations and Funerals – Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd., Topeka, KS 66610 is assisting the family.

The family requests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 42040, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
