Bonnadell (Bonnie) Pendleton, 87, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on, Sunday, February 12, 2012. Bonnie was born June 15, 1924 in Henley, Mo. She was the daughter of Charles Arthur and Bessie Mabel (Ambrose) Pendleton. She spent her early years in and around the Jefferson City and Columbia Missouri area. She graduated from Hickman High School in Columbia in 1944. After graduation, she attended Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, Tennessee. This is where she met and married Joseph Quinones. Together, they went to New York City where they pastored Grace Baptist Church in Brooklyn for many years. It was during this time she began touching the lives of children. While she had no children of her own, she was instrumental in the lives of numerous young people through her work with the church youth and later for a home for unwed mothers. Bonnie and Joe were later divorced. Bonnie worked as an administrative assistant to the chair of the Pharmacology department at Cornell Medical College from 1973-1986, when she retired.
After retirement, she spent time enjoying her many hobbies. She had a lifelong love of opera, reading, travel, entertaining in her home and dancing. She loved to travel, especially her trips to Australia and Greece. Once she moved to Kansas City, Mo. In 2001, she developed a love for the Kansas City Royals. She loved going to Kaufman Stadium to watch them play.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and her 3 brothers: Nelson, Gene and Maurice. This was a never-ending source of amazement to her as she was a sickly child and her brothers were always strong and healthy, and she outlived them all! She was also preceded in death by Don Pendleton (nephew), Christi Oder (great niece), Greg Hurt (great nephew), Brenlee Lister (great great niece) and Jeremy Pendleton (great nephew).
