Byron E. Brunkow, 69, died December 4, 2012 in Topeka, KS. Byron was born April 1, 1943 in Duluth, Kansas, the son of Lorence Brunkow & Corinitha Epson Brunkow.
Byron worked for many farmers with Nutruna Feeds before moving to Topeka with Wonder Bread/Hostess Cakes. He retired from Hostess Cakes in 2006 after 32 1/2 years of service. After retirement he worked part-time with Wonder Bread and took care of his wife. He was actively involved with the First Baptist Church of Topeka where he was an usher for over 20 years.
Byron married Nancy Grubb in 1959 and divorced in 1974.
He married Helen L. Ward October 5, 1975 in McPherson, KS. They were married for 35 years. She preceded him in death in 2011. Byron was a caring husband who was always interested in helping others and was a very hard and honest worker.
Other survivors include a daughter, Angela D. Vierra and Bill Vierra of Tulsa, OK; sons Bradley E. Brunkow of Springfield, MO; & Michael T. Brunkow of Kansas City, MO; step-son Robert D. Ward and daughter-in-law Kristie K. Ward of Woodbury, MN: four grandsons: Jacob R. Vierra & Andrew J. Vierra of Tulsa, OK; Nicholas A. Ward and Jackson C. Ward of Woodbury, MN; three sisters: Loretta Wege and husband Duane of Onaga, KS; Judy Ives and husband Jack of Old Fort, NC; Wanda Carroll and husband Joe of Big Sandy, TX; one brother: Robert Brunkow of Topeka, KS; three brother-in-laws: Gerald Pearman and wife Colleen of Colony, KS; Michael Pearman and wife Karolynn of Hillsboro, KS; Martin Pearman and wife Jan of Owasso, OK; three sister-in-laws: Rosalie Henderson and husband Oren of Houston, Jessie Cole and husband Don of Tulsa, OK; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces & nephews.
Byron was preceded in death by his daughter Tracy L. Brunkow.
Mr. Brunkow was cremated. Memorial services will be at First Baptist Church in Topeka at 10am on Friday, December 14, 2012.
