Calvin "Gene" Kreipe, 92, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2016.
He was born October 18, 1923, in Tecumseh, Kansas, the son of George and Leona (Gordon) Kreipe. He graduated from Highland Park High School and served his country honorably in the U.S Army during WWII. He was deployed to Europe and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.
Gene was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad Company for over 40 years.
Mr. Kreipe loved square dancing and was a member of the Kansas Square Dancing Hall of Fame. He was also a member of the V.F.W.
Gene married Florence Kreipe on November 24, 1943 in Richland, KS. She preceded him in death on April 7, 2015.
Survivors include daughters, Connie (Greg) Hupp and Linda (Rich) Bond; grandchildren, Kelly (Todd) Foos, Ian (Kirsten) Hupp, Nolle (Libby) Bond, Kari ( fiancée Mike) Bond and Natalie Adams; sisters, Marva Lee (John) Powell, Orpha Downing, and Karol (Leroy) Freeman.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gordon Kreipe.
The family will receive friends at the Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave., Topeka from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20.
A funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 21 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Zion Cemetery, in Tecumseh.
