Calvin Stites, 51, Topeka passed away Friday, December 27, 2013. Cal was born February 20, 1962 in Fort Scott, the son of George and Evalyn Stites. He graduated from Prairie View High School in 1980 and the University of Missouri – Rolla in 1985. He was employed as a Superintendent for Pemco, Carrothers and Walters Morgan Construction companies.
Cal married Lisa Kohut on July 12, 1986 in Springfield, Missouri. Other survivors include his daughters Sara and Eva, his parents, and sisters Jacqueline (Rick) Schlesener and Janelle Thomas.
Cal was an excellent athlete, participating in basketball, track and football. He was always reading, tended a beautiful garden, loved playing games, and used his creativity in all sorts of crafts and projects. He is loved and he is missed.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice and sent in care of the funeral home.
