Capt. L. Jameson

Capt. Harold L. "Jamie" Jameson, 89, of Berryton, passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at his home. He was born January 7, 1929 in Thedford, Nebraska, the son of LeRoy and Esther (Oman) Jameson.

Harold was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1951, serving two years with a deployment to Alaska. He then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was accepted into the Aviation Cadet Program and was commissioned as a Second Lt. in 1955. He flew B25's in Texas, T29's in California and C130's at Forbes A.F.B. His travels with the military took him many places around the world, and his family to Izmir, Turkey in 1963 for two years. He retired in 1973 and got his own Cessna 172 to continue his love of flying.

After retiring from the Air Force, he went to work for Frito Lay where he retired in 2001.

Harold was a member of the Combat Air Museum, EAA and flew kids in the Young Eagles Program.

Harold married Rosalie Reed on November 5, 1955 in San Angelo, Texas. She survives. Other survivors include their children, Col. Fred (Carol) Jameson (RET), Dennis Jameson, David Jameson, Jeanice Brown, twelve grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and his siblings, Joyce Lutes, Wayne (Marilu) Jameson, Allan (Garnett) Jameson and Una (Ken) Clausen.

Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. where the family will receive friends from 1:30 pm until service time. Cremation will follow the service and private inurnment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Combat Air Museum, 7016 SE Forbes Avenue, Topeka, KS 66619.
