Carl Donald Golden, 85, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2018.
He was born August 31, 1932, in Eldon, Missouri, the son of Archie Rado and Mildred Orella (Sullens) Golden. He was a 1950 graduate of Silver Lake High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Carl was employed by the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier for 31 years, retiring in 1990. He later worked for 18 years as the Mail Room Supervisor at the Kansas State Capitol.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Topeka and American Legion Post No. 400 of North Topeka. He also managed and coached the Royals Baseball Team at Ken Berry Sports Complex.
Carl married Leota Rae Kensing on April 14, 1957 at the Gage Park Baptist Church, Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include a grandson, Breckenridge Golden; daughter-in-law, Kathy Golden, Austin, TX; two sisters, Ruby (Rolland) Trahoon, and Delores (Richard) Borough; a brother, James (Madalene) Golden, all of Topeka; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Larry Dean Golden on January 13, 2009; a sister, Bonnie Redmon; and a brother, Lonnie Golden.
Carl enjoyed spending time with family, his church, golfing, fishing and sports.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday August 25, 2018 at the First Baptist Church, 3033 SW MacVicar Ave., Topeka. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Gardens, Topeka, Kansas.
Carl will lie in state after 3 p.m., Friday, at Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m.
