Carl Lee Patterson, 77, Lawrence, died Monday, June 12, 2006.
He was a building maintenance and air-conditioning supervisor for the KS Department of Transportation before retiring in 1990 after 41 years.
Carl was born on Aug. 20, 1928 in Auburn, the son of Harvey Albert and Mary Amanda (Burnham) Patterson.
He was a member of Heritage Park Wesleyan Church and had previously served as a trustee. Carl enjoyed woodworking; farmed and raised livestock, worked in his garden, and could repair just about anything, which he often did, as he was always willing to help someone else.
He married Charlotte Rogene Patterson on July 14, 1948 in Topeka. She preceded him in death in 2003.
Survivors include a daughter, Rogene Frazee, Arkansas City; four sons, Harvey Patterson, Arcadia, CA, Dale Patterson, Lecompton, Rodney Patterson, Topeka, and Jim Patterson, Topeka; thirteen grandchildren, one step-grandchild, twelve great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; a brother, Harvey "Jr." Patterson, Wichita; two sisters, Velma King, Topeka and Thelma Lindsey, Lacresenta, CA. He was preceded in death by his wife Charlotte; five brothers, John, Floyd, Ernest, Truman, and Harold "Buddy" Patterson; and by one sister, Elsie Schumate.
Services will be at 11a.m. Friday, June 16, 2006 at Heritage Park Wesleyan Church. Burial will be in Emmanuel Cemetery, southeast of Topeka. Mr. Patterson will lie in state after 2 p.m., Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
