Carla D. Layne, 59, Topeka, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Midland Hospice House.
Carla was born October 14, 1960 in Ottawa to Jim Richardson and Shirley Ronnau. She was raised by Phil and Shirley Ronnau. She graduated from Topeka West High School in 1978 and attended Washburn University.
She was employed by the State of Kansas, Department of Children and Family Services for 28 years, retiring in 2017. She later worked in HAP at Probasco Law Office.
She dedicated her life to helping others.
She worked in wildlife rehabilitation and volunteered at United Way.
She was a member of Fellowship Bible Church and Alpha Phi.
Carla married Greg Layne on May 20, 1989 in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include children, Joshua (Kayla) Layne, Cara (Max) Sanchez and Caleb Layne, all of Topeka; step-sons, Douglas Layne, Topeka, Damon Layne, China; grandchildren, Michelle Anderson, Lucy Grace Layne, Ellie Harper Layne, Bryson Sanchez, Cain Sanchez, Aubriella Jayde Sanchez, Austin Layne; mother, Shirley Ronnau; sister, Diane Eisenbarth; step-brother, Mike Ronnau. She was preceded in death by her step-father, Phil Ronnau.
Private graveside services will be held at the Carbondale Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 16th at 2:00 PM at Fellowship Bible Church,6800 SW 10th Ave, Topeka, Kansas.
