Carlyn S. Blevins, of Topeka, Kansas, went to be with her Lord and husband on December 20, 2014 at the Plaza West Regional Health Center, after an extended time there.
Born in Abilene, Texas, on March 9, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Juanita Wells. She was the widow of Carl R. Blevins, Sr., who preceded her in death on July 10, 2001.
Carlyn was a 1960 graduate of the Lawrence, Kansas High School. In 1962, she graduated from Cottey College of Nevada, Missouri with an Associate of Arts degree. She attended University of Kansas and graduated from Washburn University in 1970 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. She taught elementary grades in the Topeka school system for number of years. She was an active member of Highland Park United Methodist Church of Topeka. She was active in the Schmitt Women's Circle of the church until entering Plaza West.
She is survived by two sisters, Dorothy L. Wells Tommey (Charles), of Parkersburg, West Virginia and Robin Wells, of Fulsom, California; many nieces, nephews, aunt and uncles; and a very close friend, Connie McLean, of Topeka.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl R. Blevins, Sr.; her father, Robert A. Wells; mother, Juanita Wells Jennings.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m., December 24 at the Highland Park United Methodist Church, 2914 S.E. Michigan Avenue, Topeka, with, Pastor Theodore Inman, officiating. Burial will follow at the West Lawn Memorial Gardens, Topeka, next to her husband. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., one hour before the funeral service. Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel is assisting the family.

The surviving family would like to thank the people of the Grace Hospice Care Center and the nurses, aids, and management staff of Plaza West Regional Health Center for their loving care of Carlyn.
