Carol Christopher

Carol A. Christopher, 53, of Topeka, went home to the Lord on Thursday, December 11, 2008. Carol passed away in her home after a courageous battle with cancer in the presence of her loving family.

Carol was born November 17, 1955 in Watsonville, California. Her family moved to Circleville, KS in 1960 and Carol graduated with honors from Jackson Heights High School in 1973. Carol wed Doug Christopher January 22, 1977 at Circleville Christian Church. Carol has been a Topeka resident since 1984. She worked at Security Benefit as an Executive Assistant since 2002 and previously worked at Wanamaker Elementary School for 11 years. Carol was involved in track, basketball, cheerleading, and horseback riding in her high school years and continued running throughout her lifetime. She enjoyed helping others by volunteering in charitable activities. Carol was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.

Carol leaves behind her loving husband of 32 years, Doug, her two daughters, Jennifer of Topeka, and Jill of Lawrence, her mother, Rosemary Lamberson of Canon City, CO, her brothers, Stan of Whiting, Bob of Netawaka, Brian of Manhattan, Mike of Winchester, Mark of Council Grove, Shawn of Missouri, and several nieces and nephews. Carol is preceded in death by her father, Harold J. Lamberson.

Carol will lie in state after 2:00 pm at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel on Sunday, December 14, 2008. The visitation will be between 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 15th, 10:00 am, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church at 37th and Wanamaker in Topeka. Interment will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery at 6th and Gage.
