Carol Donnette Parrett

Carol Donnette Parrett, 72, of Topeka, passed peacefully at home on Monday, November 18, 2019.
Carol was born on September 21, 1947 in Sedalia, Missouri. She is the daughter of Helen and Don Davis, both deceased. She attended Topeka West High School and married Gary Parrett on March 25, 1966. Carol worked as a Journal Clerk for the Kansas Senate for 23 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, and beloved Nana to her five grandchildren and one great grandson.
Carol was active in her service of others. Over the years, Carol volunteered for the Junior League of Topeka, was a Board Member for LifeHouse Children's Advocacy Center, and adopted families at Christmas.
Carol was a member of Shawnee Heights United Methodist Church and is currently a member at Countryside United Methodist Church. She was involved with Countryside UMC Women's Blessings Circle helping others in need. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School many years as well.
Carol's favorite music was Motown and the oldies. She loved dancing to it and that was all she listened to in her car. She played in the same bridge group of friends for 45 years, enjoyed reading and meeting with her book club, traveling with Gary and friends, decorating, planting flowers, and was a fantastic cook. Carol was a bright light that will be greatly missed. Her smile and laughter lit up a room.
Carol is survived by her husband Gary Parrett; her daughters Jennifer Piel (Doug) of Topeka and Deborah Reed of Denver, CO; her grandchildren Megan Piel Combs (Patrick), Garrett Piel, Grant Piel, Kayla Reed Hoffman (Titus), Courtney Reed and great grandson Micah Ford; her sister Jenelle Carkhuff of Topeka and brother Kenny Davis (Judy) of Lincoln, Missouri.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM, Friday, November 22, 2019 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. A Celebration of Carol's Life will be on held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Countryside United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Gardens.
