Carol Ruth (Silvius) Bird

Carol Ruth (Silvius) Bird, 90, of Berryton, joined our Savior on Saturday, March 28, 2020. She was born October 11, 1929 to Carl B. and Edith M. (Mauchley) Silvius near Hope, Kansas. She married Lowell E. Bird, Easter Sunday, April 9, 1950.
Carol was a supportive wife and mother while they lived farming in Dickinson County, until they moved to Topeka in 1954. Her career began in the cafeteria of the start of Shawnee Heights School District the fall of 1962. Two of her 15 years serving the district she was the supervisor of the high school cafeteria. She finished her career at Berryton Elementary School.
Carol was a member of the Berryton United Methodist Church. She enjoyed music, square dancing and gardening. She was proud to reflect back on the days of her youth, when her family played music for cake walks and local events and won the privilege to come to Topeka and play over the radio for WIBW.
She is survived by her daughter, Janis of the home, son Roy (Luann) of Auburn, Kansas, three grandchildren, Laura Manion of Louisburg, Kansas, Cody (Amy) Bird of Wellington, Colorado, Paul (Elizabeth) Bird of Overland Park, Kansas and four great-granddaughters, nieces and nephews and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother, Wendell.
Due to current circumstances, a private graveside service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will take place at Pilgrim's Home Cemetery near Hope, Kansas in Dickinson County.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Berryton United Methodist Church, 7010 SE Berryton Rd., Berryton, Kansas 66409.
