Cary L. Stephens, 57, Lawrence, KS, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2020.

Cary was born April 18, 1963, in Topeka,KS, the son of Charles and Carolyn (Yordy) Stephens. He graduated from Topeka West High School and attended Washburn University.

He was employed in maintenance at the Target Distribution Center and formerly worked at Mars. Cary was a hard worker and loved his job.

Cary enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears and was an avid fan of KU basketball. He had never met a stranger and had the biggest laugh. Cary had a wonderful sense of humor and his sarcastic wit will always be remembered fondly. Most importantly, Cary loved his children more than anything in the world.

Cary married Kelly Durkin on May 5, 1990. They later divorced. Survivors include his children, Amber; Cody (Victoria Alejos); and Chase Stephens; all of Topeka, KS; Olivia Stephens, of Manhattan, KS; his parents Bob and Carolyn Fehring of Topeka, KS; his sister, Cathi Buckley, also of Topeka, KS; and his step brother, Ron Fehring, of Kansas City, MO; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Stephens; his brother, Chucky Stephens; and his step brother, Randy Fehring.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2020, at the Mount Hope Funeral Chapel, 4700 SW 17th, Topeka, KS. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 6, 2020, at Dove Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road, Topeka, KS.

Memorial contributions may be made to Dove for the Stephens children.
