Caryl E. Morrow, 95, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at a Topeka care facility. She was born March 15, 1916 in Queens, NY, the daughter of George R. and Louisa Gartner Meyer. Caryl had resided in Topeka for most of her life.
She was employed by the State of Kansas as a clerk for thirteen years before retiring. She was a member of the O.E.S., the American Legion Auxiliary and the V.F.W. Auxiliary.
Caryl married Harold C. Canfield on June 19, 1943 in Topeka. He preceded her in death. She later married Robert A. Morrow on December 4, 1964 in Topeka. He also preceded her in death. Caryl was also preceded in death by three sons, Richard, Boyd and Lloyd Canfield. Survivors include four granddaughters, two grandsons, several great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. Cremation will follow. Private inurnment will take place in Congressional Cemetery in Wheaton, KS at a later date. Caryl will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
