Catherine "Katie" (McGrath) Thomas, 76, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2017.
She was born June 7, 1941, in Holton, the daughter of James and Anastasia (Hrenchir) McGrath.
She attended Clarks Business School and worked for Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Kansas for 27 years, retiring in June 2003.
Katie was a member of Mother Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church and enjoyed bowling, dancing, and gardening when she was able. She volunteered at Stormont Vail and Let's Help for many years.
She was married to Billy Jo Thomas. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters, Cheryl Valdivia and Stacy (Steve) Tremblay; brother, James (Judy) McGrath; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, John (Linda) McGrath.
Katie was cremated. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at Mother Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Monday at the church, where a Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Interment of the cremated remains will be in Rochester Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to TARC or The Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorder Center at the University of Kansas.
