Catherine Bowman

Catherine C. Bowman, 77, of Topeka, passed away Wed. Sept. 9, 2009, at Plaza West Regional Health Center. She was born on Nov. 19, 1931, in Lyndon, KS, the daughter of Maurice and Lillian (Rose) Hobbs.

She is a 1948 graduate of Lyndon High School.

Catherine married Henry W. Bowman on Aug. 17, 1966, in Ottawa, KS. He preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 1978.

She worked as a telephone operator for the State of Kansas; later a nurse's aide at the VA Medical Center for 18 yrs. followed by 20 years in the restaurant business at Old South Side/Don's Den in Carbondale.

Her favorite pastimes included playing cards, sewing and collecting thimbles.

Catherine is survived by her daughter, Paula Leach and her son, Nicholas of Topeka; a son, Donald Yockey (Venus) and their son, Joe.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Leonard, Gerald, Malcom and Richard Hobbs and sister, Patricia Yockey.

Cremation has taken place. Time and place of a memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Private inurnment will be in Lyndon Cemetery.
