Cathleen Ann Berry

With great sorrow and bittersweet solace, the Smith, Brown and Berry families announce the passing of our kind, brave, caring and unimaginably generous mother, CeCe, daughter, sister and friend, Cathleen Ann Berry, 59.

Cathy passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on April 24, 2023. She was born on December 29, 1963, in Topeka, Kansas to Glen and Ellen Berry. Cathy graduated from Topeka West High School in 1982 and later attended Emporia State University. After this, Cathy joined Security Benefit Group of Topeka, Kansas. She worked there for 38 years.

Cathy is survived by her daughters, Christine Brown (Matthew) of Kansas City, and Ally Smith (Kyle) of Silver Lake; her grandchildren, Colt, Jameson, Addie Jo, and Mack; her parents, Ellen and Glen Berry of Topeka; and her brothers, Michael Berry (Michelle) of Topeka and Patrick Berry (Avery) also of Topeka. Cathy is also survived by her nephews, Jacob, Christopher, and Joseph.

Cathy fought like a giant and won. She was stronger because she had to be. She was happy because she learned what mattered. She stood tall because she was a survivor. Her heart of this world may have faded but her spirit was stubbornly strong.

In lieu of a traditional memorial service, Cathy has requested to "have a big party" which will take place on Saturday, April 29 at the Cyrus Hotel in downtown Topeka. The event will be held from 6pm to 10pm.
