Cecelia Emelda Reed, 80, of Topeka, Passed away, Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Brewster Place.
She was born August 5, 1927 in New Orleans, LA the daughter of Alfred and Ida Batops. She came to Topeka in 1951 to join her husband Ernest.
Cecelia married Ernest Frank Reed, Sr. December ___, 1948. He survives. Other survivors include her daughter, Miriam Ida Hysten; and sons, Ernest F. Reed, Jr.; George H. Reed; and Alfred Thomas Reed, all of Topeka; her sister, Ida Maugarite Strickland, New Orleans, LA; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She was employed for many years at the Santa Fe Hospital as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Her greatest joy was helping others, always.
She was a member of the Shawnee Meadows Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Mrs. Reed will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2008 a t the Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel where the family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 10, a t the funeral home. Interment will follow at Topeka Cemetery.
