Cedric M. Harris, 93, of Topeka, died Friday, May 6, 2011 at a local hospital. He was born December 3, 1917 in Topeka, the son of Elmer and Lela (Brown) Harris.
Cedric joined the United States Army and was a veteran of World War II, serving in North Africa, Italy and Germany. Following his discharge after the war, he began his career as a painter, retiring after 37 years with McGivern Painting Contractors. He was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, and was always happy to help his friends and neighbors at the Santa Fe Apartments. He is survived by many friends, one nephew, and one niece. He was preceded in death by his wife Maudie in 2007.
Per his wishes, Cedric was cremated. A graveside memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17 at the Topeka Cemetery.
