Charisse (McLaurin) Torres-Rios, 53, of Topeka, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 24, 2023.
Charisse was born to Ethel M. Garrison and Lenwood McLaurin on January 19, 1970 in Newark, New Jersey. After graduating from Niceville High School in Niceville, Florida, she worked as a childcare provider at Dimples Day Care Center in Shalimar, Florida. She then later moved to Colorado Springs, Germany and then Clarksville, Tennessee and ended up settling in Topeka, Kansas.
Charisse loved going to church and praising the Lord. As a woman of faith, she wished to have a celebration of immortality promised to all by Christ. She would love to be remembered to those who knew her as funny, strange and a silly storyteller that celebrated what was good and blessed in her life.
Charisse was preceded in death by Lenwood McLaurin, Rebecca McLaurin, Betty McLaurin, Walter Garrison, and Helen Garrison.
Charisse is survived by her mother, Ethel M. Garrison-Herring; children, Ramon Torres-Rios, Marlina Torres-Rios; sisters, Pamela L. Brito-Foston, Leneetee McLaurin, Tyanna Foston; brothers, Harold J. Brito, Ronald McLaurin; nephews, Tyann and Tylynne Foston; granddaughter, Victoria Torres-Rios and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
We will all greatly miss her smile and adventuresome spirit. But now, we are grateful that she knows what it's like to be truly liberated. She will truly be missed by friends, family and all who knew her.
