Charlene Jackson

Charlene M. Jackson, 72, passed away Thurs., Sept. 25, 2008. Charlene was born March 5, 1936 to Leslie and Beulah Jackson, the youngest of thirteen children. She graduated from Atchison High School and moved to Topeka in 1950.

Charlene was previously employed with KNI. She was a member of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church and was a member of Laura Thurston Temple #1094.

She was preceded in death by eight brothers, two sisters and a son, Dewayne Bennett. Survivors include two brothers; Graham Jackson, Theodore Jackson; three daughters, Angela Dortch (William), Bridgett Spears (David) of Topeka and Cynthia Williams of Charlotte, NC; three sons, Jackie McDonald (Rhonda), Ronnie Bennett and Leroy Bennett of Topeka; twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and a beloved friend, Robert Franklin of Topeka.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Fri., Oct. 3, at Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Charlene will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. after 4:00 p.m., Thurs. with visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. for friends and family.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Charlene Jackson Memorial Fund in c/o Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel.
