Charles Chapel

Charles Kenneth "John" Chapel, 100, of Topeka, formerly of Salina, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2012. He was born January 16, 1912 in Woodston, Kansas to Myron Samuel and Josephine (Merriman) Chapel.

Charles retired from Union Pacific Motor Freight in Salina. He and his wife Edna owned and operated Plaza Style Shop at the Sunset Plaza Shopping Center in Salina for over 20 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Salina.

On December 6, 1933, he married Edna Margarette Allison in Solomon, KS. She preceded him in death on November 26, 2011. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, JoAn Rowlan-Wynn in 2001 and his son, Charles Eugene "Gene" Chapel in 2007.

Charles is survived by two daughters, Marilyn Kay (Whitey) Quintin and Carol (Cliff) Gideon all of Topeka; 18 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren; numerous great-great grandchildren; son-in-law, John Wynn of Checotah, OK and daughter-in-law, Jeanneane Chapel of Lindsborg, KS.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 3 at Dove Cremation and Funeral Service. Memorial contributions may be made to Prospect Mountain Therapeutic Riding Center for Handicapped Children, 7471 FM 3094, Scurry, TX 75158.
