Charles E. "Chuck" Jones, 52, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2014. He suffered a heart attack while riding ATV's at the Little Sahara Sand Dunes in Waynoka, OK.
Chuck was born March 21, 1962 in Topeka, KS, the son of Cecil Y. and Delores J. Trowbridge Jones. He graduated from Hollister High School in Hollister, MO. Chuck joined the Kansas Army National Guard shortly after graduating from high school. He served two tours in Iraq and one in Kuwait. He was employed as a technician for the Kansas Army National Guard. His current rank was SFC and received various medals and awards.
Chuck married Carol J. Moore on February 28, 2014. She survives. Other survivors include his children, Nicholas J. Jones of Topeka, Toby L. Jones of Oakley, KS, step-son, Jason Droge of Topeka, three grandchildren, Peyton, Aiden and Jessa, his siblings, Steve J. Igercic of Topeka, Jim B. Jones of Topeka and Pam Puff of Maple Hill, KS and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery in Big Springs, KS. Chuck will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at the funeral home where the family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
