Charles Gunn

Charles E. "Chuck" Gunn, 80, of Topeka passed away on December 2, 2017 at his home. Born December 8, 1936, in La Plata, Missouri, he was the son of Elmer and Alta Gunn.

He was a graduate of Fort Madison High School in Iowa and attended the University of Iowa.

He worked for Santa Fe Railroad for 40 years, holding many roles in Iowa, California and Kansas. Chuck retired as a time keeping manager.

Chuck married Kay on June 23, 1956 in Fort Madison, Iowa.

He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling. Chuck was a sports enthusiast, who enjoyed watching KU and Iowa basketball and football as well as the LA Rams and the Chiefs. He was a member of the Lake Shawnee Men's Golf Club. Chuck was one of a lucky few who obtained seven holes-in-one over his golf career.

He is survived by his wife, three sons; David (Jean), Bob (Lynn) and Ken, five grandchildren; Bret, Trever, Elizabeth, Alexander, and Halyn, a sister, Ann Nolte, a brother, Carl Gunn, a niece and two nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 9, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church, 600 SW Topeka Blvd, Topeka, KS 66603.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Topeka Rescue Mission, 600 N Kansas Avenue, Topeka, KS 66608, Midland Hospice Care, 200 SW Frazier Cir. Topeka, KS 66606 or the First United Methodist Church.
