Charles H. Menke, 87, of Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at Atria Hearthstone West in Topeka. He was born November 7, 1927 in Morrowville, KS, the son of Albert and Mildred Wells Menke. He graduated from Morrowville High School in 1945. Charles was an Army Veteran during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church. He was employed as a truck driver by Frito Lay Logistics where he retired in 1989.
Charles married Carolyn M. Bletscher on May 6, 1953 in Wakefield, KS. She preceded him in death in October, 1996. Charles was also preceded in death by his brother, Byron D. Menke.
Survivors include eight children, Patricia Puff, Sandra Weeks, Douglas Menke, Dwight Menke, Daryl Menke, Timothy Menke, Gary Menke and Jon Menke, eighteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2015 at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Topeka. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. A Parish Rosary will be prayed at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 7, 2015 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel in Topeka where the family will receive friends following the Rosary until 4:00 p.m.
