Charles K. "Charlie" Doud, Jr., 85, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013.
He was born April 30, 1928 in Topeka, the son of Charles and Georgia (Glidewell) Doud, Sr. He graduated from Seaman High School in 1946. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a lifetime farmer-stockman in the Wakarusa community.
He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church and the American Legion in Topeka, as well as a project leader for the Riverside 4-H Club.
He enjoyed farming, gardening and playing cards.
Charlie married Mildred Witte on May 24, 1953 at Hope Lutheran Church in Topeka. She preceded him in death on May 12, 2004. Survivors include two sons, Gary Doud of Lawrence and Galen Doud of Kent, WA; two daughters, Vickie (Dana) Falen of Scottsdale, AZ and Cynthia (Dan) Bervert of Topeka; three grandchildren, Elizabeth and Christopher Bervert, Jackie (Sheldon) Keefe, two great-grandchildren, Landon and Wyatt Keefe; and a sister, Bonnie (Galen) Billings of Topeka.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral ceremony will be 1 p.m., Thursday, May 16,2013 at Hope Lutheran Church, 2626 SE Minnesota, Topeka, KS 66605. Interment with military honors will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Berryton, KS. Mr. Doud will lie in state after 3 p.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at the Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave, Topeka where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Lutheran Church.
